JLo's Fitness and Beauty Secrets!!!
Daily exercise, sensible eating and a desire to stay healthy and happy are the things that keep superstar Jennifer Lopez in the best shape of her life. From her acclaimed Las Vegas residency to her hit TV series Shades of Blue, her American Idol judging gig to recent single Ain't Your Mama, which clocked up 60 million YouTube views in three weeks… When Jennifer Lopez decides to do something, she gives it her all.
J.Lo’s so dedicated to getting her sweat on that she told Us Weekly that she “very rarely skips a workout.”
"Sometimes, I work too late the night before and I'm like, 'Ugh, I can't do this.' But I tell myself, 'Just do it. It's only an hour,’” she shared with the magazine. “It's just talking yourself off the ledge of being a lazy bum."
She's also compared herself to a fighter, "going into the ring," telling Redbook, "I do my cardio and I do my workouts with the Tracy Anderson Method."
Plus, she's acknowledged that, sometimes, you just don't feel like working out: "Sometimes when I get home and I'm not feeling so great, I make myself go to the gym. Then I come home and take a shower, put on a great outfit, some makeup, tie my hair up, and I feel pepped up and great about myself," she told Redbook.
Jennifer, who has also worked out with the likes of Gunnar Peterson, schedules sweat sessions with Anderson at least four to five times a week, the dance cardio guru told People magazine. “I do an upper body warmup with her,” Anderson shared. “We do two songs without weights, and then we add three-pound weights, and sometimes I add a song with five-pound weights as well.” They then move on to incorporate booty work with moves such as lunges and sitting hip lifts.
Jennifer tells it like it is about how to get the body she has: "You got to work out, you got to watch what you eat," she told Us Weekly. "It's a job—you've got to buckle down."
The Shades of Blue actress, 48, doesn’t try to be someone she’s not.
“I think the idea of being curvaceous, being a little bit bigger than normal or smaller than normal, all of that is okay,” the singer told Extra. “As long as it’s healthy. I embrace who I am. I feel sexy, I feel youthful, I feel pretty sometimes!”
Jennifer, who also regularly hits the gym with boyfriend Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, follows a strict diet. And by strict, we mean strict.
"It's all organic and it's all very well thought out, with the balance of very high-quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food," Anderson shared with People. "Everything is fresh. There's nothing processed—just [protein powder] in a shake if we do a protein shake one day. What you eat doesn’t just affect your body; it can also affect the way your skin looks."
Jennifer also never drinks alcohol or coffee. She also avoids salt and sugar.
She may be hardcore in the gym, but Jennifer also knows the importance of being patient with your body. "I remember when I had baby fat and my thighs were so out of proportion to my ankles," she told The Telegraph. "Then I remember dropping weight and being quite thin. Then, when I got pregnant, I remember watching my back, belly, and butt grow and thinking, 'I will never be the same again.' Then I remember right after the twins were born having that weird jiggly belly—and kind of loving that, too. Because I earned that jiggly belly. Then came trying to get my body back into shape and how long that took. A whole year.”
On top of regularly working out with Anderson, Jennifer is constantly dancing.
"I am 100 percent convinced that working out is part of what makes me so happy. Dance has always been a huge part of my life and taking the time to move my body and do something that's so good for me is key to my happiness,” she told Hello! “I really believe that when you take care of yourself and work to stay healthy, you're better able to take care of those you love. So working out is definitely a priority for me."
“When my confidence is lagging, I dance,” she continued. “There's something about seeing what my body is capable of and feeling the endorphin rush that comes with a good dance session that really helps boost my confidence and my mood. I still consider myself a dancer at heart and I love it."
