We have all been there before; had one of those bad meals, days, maybe even a week or two of horrible eating. With happy hour Friday, brunches on Sunday's, holiday parties, vacations, etc it is almost impossible not to cheat and go crazy every once in awhile!! The aftermath of guilt and bloat is the WORST feeling, but what are the best things to do?!
The first thing you may want to do, but shouldn't, is skip meals or fast. DON'T!!! In fact, you should do the complete opposite by eating breakfast to jump start your metabolism along with fiber and protein enriched small meals/snacks through out the day. This will help you get your digestion back on track as well as keep you full. Eat as CLEAN as you possible can by cutting down sugar, salt, and fat. By skipping meals, it could potentially throw your body even more out of whack by slowing down your metabolism and storing extra fat!
Another key to recovering after a nasty binge is to DRINK WATER...LOTS! Not only is it key to stay hydrated to aid in digestion and fight bloat, but it also flushes out waste and pollutants in our body. First thing you should do in the morning is drink a large glass of water and then always have a bottle or two on you side for the rest of the day.
Lastly, GET MOVING!! It may be the last thing you want to do, but the second you start working out and getting those endorphins going, you will immediately feel better. Remember the longer you take off from working out, the harder it is to get back into it.
Never beat yourself up for getting off task. What is life if you can't enjoy it! It's all about portionizing. If you get a little of track, just pick up the pieces and get back focused on your goal!
